There were a few planes lost into the bush but all were retrieved I think. Launching discipline was better than previously, a few crossed lines but not too bad. Only 9 members contended this round, which was a pity because despite the poor launches those who went for the longer flights mostly made them. James Cameron came fith - a very good result - congratulations James. Running the competition in 1/2 hr time slots worked well with only a few over runs which did not cause any bother.
The results were:
1) Paul Gibson 1200 pts
2) John Tidey 1186 pts
3) Col Armitage 1148 pts
4) Richard Aurich 996 pts
5) James Cameron 948 pts
6) John Rawlins 941 pts
7) Ron Gett 230 pts
8) Dennis Rogers 223 pts
Thanks to all those who took part

The Claytons round 2 was held on Sunday 17th Jan with a good turnup of 11 members. The forecast was a bit unsure of itself but with the promise of a southerly coming sometime in the day with strengthening westerlies before that. When we started the wind was North West and very light and stayed that way until late in the competiton when it strengthened. CD Ray Oehme put a time limit of 9am to 12pm to try to avoid the strengthening winds and said that everyone could fly the tasks (2,3,4,5,6 min) in any order and at any time. Most got going straight away only to find the lift light and fluky. I flew my "Milesbore" which weighs only 600 gm and this just floated around in the light air for a 5.59 first flight on its first comp outing. Other people were doing just as well and it looked like being a close competition. Towards the end of the competition a few fliers were caught out by the strong winds and lack of winches (a lot of people had put their winches away and then the old club winch threw a tangle that proved difficult to sort out). In the end most people had a good day and are looking forward to the next round on the 28th Feb. Many thanks to Ray for running a smooth operation.
The results are below, poor Richard had a wing break on launch and Ron and Col each missed one of their flights due to winch availability at the end of the comp. Lyn Oaten did really well.
Results
1) Brian Lindsay 1195 pts (only 5 pts from a perfact score!)
2) Steve Truscott 1175 pts)
3) Paul Gibson 1172 pts
4) Lyn Oaten 1110 pts (well done Lyn !)
5) John Tidey 1069 pts
6) John Quigley 982 pts
7) John Rawlins 954 pts
8) Ron Gett 910 pts
9) Ray Oehme 896 pts
10) Col Armitage 734 pts
11) Richard Aurich 352 pts
